Hello,
My name is Katrina Ndrejica and I am a teddy-bear Artist living in the beautiful Whitsunday's of sunny Queensland situated right next to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I first started making teddy bears back in 1999 when living in the cooler climate of Tasmania. I had just had my second child & love decorating, wanting a theme for her room. I came across a beautiful shop which was lined with teddies from floor to ceiling on old book shelves. And I envisioned my daughters room the same with her bed in the middle with a French Lace Canopy surrounded by these teddies. (Any child's dream).

So with no experience at Bear making I put needle to thread & jumped right in to make my first bear. I still have him to this day! My husband laughed- saying "It looks like a mouse"!!! Determined to do better- I kept going. I was soon approached by a lady at a local market to sell some bears at her stall. Reluctant, but willing -I did!

Soon I was selling more than I could keep up with, as word had gotten around- people from all over the State were coming to buy my bears. I was encouraged that same year to enter the biggest bear competition in the State - coming home with many prizes. Winning 1st, 2nd & 3rd, also the People's Choice Award! , "I didn't think I would win any-thing". I was soon designing all of my own bears, when "The Teddy Bear Shop" chain of stores around Australia approached me to make them some bears. Now only entering major competitions in Professional categories, I was winning many awards, including "Best in Show", "Most Innovative Design", medals, ribbons & trophies. My family & I moved to Queensland in 2003.

Being a self proclaimed perfectionist, each bear is made with love, thought & attention to detail & craftsmanship. I am constantly challenging my-self for new & unique ideas- such as "The Bearonette Collection" of Marionette Bears or "The Hand-stand collection" of bears. Also making "Musical, animated" hugs of bears.
All of my bears are hand-stitched in the finest quality Mohair available, & come with a hand-painted terracotta name tag detailing edition number or OOAK status, date made & my signature on the back. Also all bears have a "BUMBLE BEARS" tag stitched into their body for authenticity. All bears are fully jointed- even some with wobble joints. I love these as they seem to come to life when you move them. I also love bears with BIG paws, BIG bellies & extra BIG feet. I find bear-making very relaxing & comforting.

BUMBLE BEARS is named from Bumble Bee's buzzing around our garden in Tasmania. Bee's make honey- Bears love honey, hence "Bumble Bears"!
